~Romance Of 3 Kingdoms 4 A mixture of tips (Two opinions for each tip). STARTING OUT: Choosing sides: It might be tempting to start out as a huge empire, but I find that these empires have a plethora of internal problems when you take the helm. Low morale, poor harvests, bad crops, lousy economy, etc. ~OR, you don't choose kingdoms for land size, or anything like that. ~You choose a kingdom for the leader and the generals they come with. ~Liu Bei's a good leader to pick right away (mainly because he has a ~general that has almost no equal, and is exceeded in power only by ~Lu Bu (Dong Zuo's main general)...) The first few turns: Move all your troops to the front line provinces. Use some of your officers to train these soldiers until they reach about 85 training. Have the rest develop your farmland and economy. Ignore the dams and technology for now. ~You might as well train the troops all the way. You're not going to ~be attacked soon (usually) and 100 morale is always useful... Development: Always try to have at least two officers assigned to everything. Your gold will be spent more effeciently this way. ~Unless one officer is stealing the gold;-O That reminds me, keep up ~your officer's loyalty! TROOP STRATEGY: You'll find that front-line provinces will require more farmland, economy, morale, etc. attention than rear echelon ones. Therefore, try and recruit and train your soldiers away from the front lines. Once their training reaches 100, send them to the front lines. OFFICER DEPLOYMENT: Have at least 6 officers in front-line provinces. The outer provinces should have your most powerful generals leading the troops. Power makes more difference than all the training in the world... WAR: When to attack: Only, *only*, attack when you have a vastly superior force! ~And be sure you have one after you take the province... Other ~generals/governers tend to try to get their land back. What to bring: At least two officers per unit. Bring archers if at all possible. Try and have your infantry outnumber your archers ~5:1. Auto-Crossbows are highly overrated. Use Strong Crossbows. Cavalry are virtually useless in castle assault, use infantry instead. ~Cavalry has it's uses. (High mobility mainly) Great for taking out ~the leader in field battles ;-) STRATEGIES: Bait & Draw: Deliberately weaken one of your front line provinces next to an enemy stronghold. The enemy may invade, which will weaken the strong province. Attack your sacrificed province first, then war on the now-weakened enemy province. Divide & Conquer: Simple strategy. Isolate enemy provinces and then destroy them. Follow the leader: Spy on enemy provinces to find out which on the leader resides in. Attack that province and focus your might on the leader. Once S/he is defeated, you will have won. Turn the Tables: Kinda fun. Have several of your officers hide in the enemy province. Then have them all defect during the battle! You'll have stolen a good chunk of your enemies army! ~Well, you can also get allies to aid your campaigns. That, and ~getting nomads to soften up the opponent.. Always remember... Real faith is objective.
